Lagos State, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has appointed “ACP Odubona Oludotun, AC Operations to head the Chairman of the force.

 Lagos State, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has established a ‘Special Force’ to end their activities in the metropolis.

According to the Lagos CP ,the creation of the special force came days after miscreants under different groups in Ijegun, Itire, Isheri etc., vandalized several vehicles and destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.

In a statement  signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, disclosed that the miscreants operates under different names such as One Million Boys, No Salary Boys, Awawa Boys and others.

To end their activities in Lagos, the CP on Sunday said: “The team is tasked with the responsibility of dislodging social miscreants in the State”.

According to him, the miscreants are responsible for series of violent crimes and attacks in different communities and neighborhoods.

“They also engage in Traffic robberies, assaults, murder and sexual assaults. The Operations are mostly Intelligence driven, collating actionable information about the activities of such miscreants, their membership and hideouts and taking the battle to their doorsteps”.

Due to the numerous activities they engaged in, Odumosu explained that members of the team were drawn from Tactical Units, State Intelligence Bureau, Operations Department and State Criminal Investigation Department.

Meanwhile, the commissioner disclosed that after different attacks by hoodlums in the state, over 50 has been arrested by the command.

Odumosu said: “11 suspects were initially arrested and charged to Court. Items recovered from the suspects include: two locally made Pistols, 11 axes, nine cutlasses, four daggers and charms”.

He noted that the arrest of the 11 increased number of hoodlums in detention to 50 suspects and were currently being profiled.

The Commissioner of Police, however, warned members of such violent gangs that the Command will pursue them, subdue them and bring them to justice. Parents are advised to monitor the activities of their children.
